Laptop touchpad problems

Hi,

I have recentally installed red hat 8 on a new laptop (DEL Versa E400) - almost everything is working smoothly except I can't get it so that if the mouse is plugged in (on boot) it will use that but if it isn't it will use the touchpad.

I have been using /usr/sbin/mouseconf and if I select PS/2 - then the touchpad works and if I select USB the (USB) mouse works. But I have to do that each time I want to switch (and reboot). So it's a bit of a pain.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Will.
