Smile laptop question


I got a few question about this laptop i want to get.I want to know if all this hardware is supported on ubuntu or fedora linux?

My wife has that model direct from Dell and the fedora 15 and 16(beta) live usb's all worked perfect.

I take you have the same hardware on it and what the model name of it?Does she have the wimax on it to?

From my reciept, the relevant lines are:

Inspiron 15R
Intel®Core™i3 -350M 2.26Ghz/3M
4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3
15.6" High Definition (720)p LED Display with TrueLife™
Intel® HD Graphics
Dell Wireless 1501
No Wimax, but it does also have bluetooth that works

Being a Dell, there's a good chance that the wireless is a Broadom chipset. I have a 1545n and a Dell Mini 9 and both have Broadcom wireless.

They both work fine with Ubuntu as long as the restricted drivers repo is enabled to grab the Broadcom wireless firmware.

I haven't tested them with Fedora.
