Laptop + Monitor

Hi,

I have just connected a Acer Widescreen AL1916W Monitor to my Acer Aspire 5672 Laptop and I am trying to get it to work properly.

The Laptopn Screen runs at 1280x800 and the Monitor runs at 1440x900, what I would like to do is when the Monitor is attached only use the monitor (I would press FN + F5 when I had windows installed), but I cant seem to find anyway to do this.

If I go into System Settings on Kubuntu 7.10 I can see the settings for each Monitor I have set the Monitor to Acer AL1916W with image format to Widescreen 16:9, but when I click on test I get grey screens on both displays with a cursor, but cant get back to System Settings without Ctrl + Alt + Backspace.

My Xorg.conf is as follows:
Code:

# xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
#  sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Horizsync 30-70
Vertrefresh 50-160

You may need to modify these lines in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

To see the true refresh rates for your monitor run the program:

hwinfo > /tmp/hwinfo.txt

Open /tmp/hwinfo.txt and and search for Hor and Ver lines.
