Laptop Modem died.. now what?

I have a stupid WIN modem that i FINNALY got to work in my laptop with Mandrake Linux. It was a Conexant ACLink data/voice/fax modem. (damn i hate dial up) But now its dead, doesnt even work in windows... i tried re installing drivers and such, and now Conexant doesnt even handle Linux support. Is there any way to get a linux modem for a laptop ?
sometimes, i wonder if im the only one with no idea what im doing....

Your best bet is EBay or Yahoo! Auctions. I got a used 10Mbit PCMCIA network card there for 20 bucks (including shipping)! I'm sure they have plenty of modems too. As long as it's not a WINmodem, Linux hould have no trouble with it.

If you want to make sure it's compatible, you can get the hardware compatibility list from your distros site and pick one OR spend the dough to get a 3com. =)
