lan card problem!

i have two lancard how can i detect the other one because if i command ifconfig only one lan card is viewed but i know the two of them are supported because if i remove the other one and enable the built in lancard it works and if i disable the built in lancard in BIOS and attached the other one it work fine also, so how can i enable the two of them..

Kernel? Distribution?

RedHat/Fedore -> try to install your second LAN card with "kudzu".
all linux -> post what "dmesg" means and if eth0 or eth1 is the one that functions.

How to solve that problem depends on the systems you're working on, so post informations, please.
