LaCie firewire recognition by fedora 3

hi all,

I've just received a LaCie d2 from a collaborator which has been mounted
as an ext3 filesystem and I would like to mount it on my linux box which
is running fedora core 3. In the past, I've been able to mount these drives
with USB connectors just fine -- the device name appears when I do a dmesg
and I can add this to fstab. However this drive is firewire only and fedora
doesn't seem to recognize the connection when it is plugged into the box.
It seems like there is no firewire drivers in fedora 3?

Has anyone had a similar problem? and is there a way around it?

thanks

Dunc

The only version of FC3 that didn't have Firewire was the initial installation version (because of bugs in the kernel, it was disabled). Apply all your maintenance - you have quite a backlog by now. As root:

yum -y update

If you still have problems after applying maintenance, extract the /var/log/messages relating to your Firewire (ieee1394) since boot, and post them so we can see what the problem is.
