Labtec Webcam Rh9 2.4.20-6 install help

Greetings Linux Gurus,
i have recently aquired a labtec webcam or so it says on the packaging im not sure what sort of chipset etc are actually inside of it but it has been detected by rh9 as a logitech quickcam express, i am aware that detection is sometimes a bit sketchy for redhat so as i have been told in a few places the quickcam identification is fine. so, i fire up gnomemeeting and run the nice druid for my cam and get nothing in either dev0 or dev1 yep just a nice logo. now i recently purchased a logitech dual analog gamepad and had to run a modprobe joydev as root to get it to work with zsnes or at all actually is there a similar function with my webcam as it is usb as well? when i run the hardware browser with gnome it is detected as a system device right above my gamepad wich works fine however it does not fire up with gnome meeting. im grateful for any help and if more info is needed just ask and if dont know how to get it myself just give me the commands thanks
