Label printer for Linux
My girlfriend has a label printer at work and she's starting to want one for home, something like this (that's just for an example, but probably higher-end than we are interested in).
I know I'm being lazy here, but does anyone happen to know off-hand of one or of a brand that is Linux compatible and network-addressable? |
We use many of those types of devices. Many of them can work on linux but it takes some work. They generally have a way to set them to some alternate type of print language/model. They may have to have a program in windows to access it also. To use them to just print text isn't so bad. Trying to get them to print barcodes requires a lot of work sometimes.
Simple enough to boot to a live usb and try to see how far you get. I have printed windows 3.1 printer test pages to them. |
Thanks.
Unfortunately, I don't have one to test with. Really, that's the question. Which brands can I take a chance on? Her IT folks won't let me near the one in her office and her job is more important than our home label printer! |
