L2 Cache on Pentium I 233 MMX (i586)
Hello,
I have a Pentium I 233 MMX machine with 1 meg (1024k) L2 cache, that runs as a fax server using hlyafax and Redhat 9. Is there a way to let Linux know the board has that much L2 cache? Under windows 20000 there is a registry tweak/hack for it, and it does make a noticeable performance gain in W2K. Here is the current CAT /PROC/CPUINFO, there is no cache entry listed like for an i686 class processor. Yes the proc is overclocked to 250 (*83@3) [root@a1300 root]# cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 5 model : 4 model name : Pentium MMX stepping : 3 cpu MHz : 249.919 fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : yes coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 mmx bogomips : 498.07 |
So, nobody knows? Or is this not possible or required?
