KWorld TV Terminator (saa7134) infrared support?
I have a 'KWorld TV Terminator' capture card and Ubuntu 7.10 x64. Everything but the infrared reciever on the device works perfectly with Ubuntu - the TV, Composite and FM radio all work. I've been searching for a while and found this site that describes how you can enable the IR remote support. It requires a kernel patch though, and the instructions are for Fedora's 2.6.20 kernel. As Ubuntu 7.10 uses the 2.6.22 kernel, I'm worried to try it in case it screws up the kernel. (I'm a newbie at all this kernel compiling/patching stuff.) I'm also confused about how to patch it.

Can someone explain some stuff for me? Like whether it's likely to work on x64 Ubuntu, whether I WILL have to recompile all the kernel modules (doing make menuconfig etc)?

Many thanks. :)

PS: While nothing to do with the above question, I keep having a freezing problem on Ubuntu. It didn't happen on 32-bit 7.04 but when I upgraded to 7.10 x64 it'll randomly freeze sometimes. Sometimes it'll run for a whole day without locking up, sometimes it'll run for a few hours, and sometimes a few minutes. I'm not sure what's causing it - on the offchance it was ACPI I disabled that, it's not that. Anyone else experiencing this? I think it might be Compiz or the graphics drivers, but I don't want to get rid of my swishy desktop eyecandy :(
