I recently bought a kvm-switch (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) in order to be able to use two systems with just one kvm set (maintenance). When I bought it I checked how it worked with one system with a knoppix live distro and a windows on the other and everything went just fine. Now however I tried to hook it up to my fedora system and I get the following trouble:

When I boot up from fedora eveything is fine. When I switch from the other system back to fedora the mouse goes haywire: it move eratically over the screen and even clicks without touching the buttons.

So far the only way to solve this problem has been rebooting the system. Of course I'd like to get it to work with fedora the way it did with windows and knoppix. Suggestions?

When this happens, unplug the mouse from the KVM switch then re-connect it. The mouse should now work correctly. Some mice do this for some reason - I had a USB/PS2 mouse that did the very same with my KVM switch.

I have a KVM switch. What I do to fix the problem, is compile the mouse as modules instead as built-in. If you are using a PS/2 mouse, forget putting it in /etc/modules.conf or /etc/modprobe.conf because kernel version 2.6.x has a different way of detecting this hardware than kernel version 2.4.x. You have to add /sbin/modprobe psmouse in /etc/rc.local.

Electro: run that by me a little more slowly: I open /etc/rc.local and write a new line that says "/sbin/modprobe psmuse"?

I'm using fedora so I haven't really configured anything myself. I'm hoping to get another go at slack on the second system , but it looks daunting.
