Kudzu Problem

I am facing a problem. I am using Red Hat Linux Enterprise 2. Whenever I type "kudzu" in shell terminal window , kudzu started . but seems to me , some problem is also started !

Starting kudzu , makes my mouse cursor point unsteady. I cant move my mouse. if just push a little my mouse , the pointer moves a lot path in screen , automatically opens some program.

Infact , I have this same problem in my previous Red Hat Linux Fedora Core 2 installation.

Please help me out !

Not sure exactly what you are wanting kudzu to do but from my understanding it is run at boot to see hardware has changed. Also a few other apps can interface into like the Anaconda installer, Xconfigurator, and HWBrowser.

hmm....

actually I dont have my soundcard properly installed. I just want to uninstall it using kudzu and then try a different version driver.

well , I just want to know , why this is happening ? Why opening kudzu makes my computer mad , mouse cursor begins to move like a mad cow which can not be controlled. I move it great amount , but in screen it moves a little . and very much declined to move in X axis direction.

Is kudzu running on boot. If not as root issue the command to do so and reboot.
chkconfig --level 345 kudzu on

Does it detact the soundcard and what is in /etc/modprobe.conf file. This is where kudzu will put the modules to load for the sound card.

What kind of soundcard make, model, and version is it?
What does ' lspci ' output to the screen?
What modules did load at boot ' lsmod '?

lspci and lsmod are commands you type in a terminal console session. lspci list the hardware related to the pci bus interface that the system sees. Does not mean it works but at the system can see the hardware itself. Now lsmod list the modules that are loaded to support many hardware devices.

Now if you use the commmand ' man ' followed by other command names it will display info on the command and proper structure of the command plus atrributes one can use with it. Granted the manpages are not the best user friendly tool for a beginner but once you begin to understand the layout then it will become easier. Example
man lspci
man lsmod
man ls

Things that can help you along to learn quicker is use the search feature here at linuxquestions or one of the search engines like google.

Now info on the soundcard would be helpful info. During the install did it detect the souncard and play some sounds from the test?
