Angry Kscd

I have a machine with 2 hd's, master=win2000 slave=linux 8.1

When I first installed SuSE Linux 8.1 Kscd worked! Now it is not working. I checked Kmix and everything is fine. All other sounds work, the sound card test plays fine.

What is wrong?

Have you tried playing CD's in Xmms?? If that doesn't work then maybe something came loose??

To play CD's in Xmms look to see if you have the plugin first. Right click on Xmms, goto preferences and see if you have CD audio player listed. If you do, stick an audio CD in an add the /mnt/cdrom (assuming thise is where you mount your CDROM) directory to the playlist. Just add the whole directory.

there is a fix for this but I dont quite remember it from the top of my head. Here is a link to the suse database that will fix your problem.

http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/81_ide-scsi.html

edited to add:

By the way, though the problem referenced on the suse page does not mention KSCD, I had the same problem and this is the fix I used now KSCD works fine.

Wink Fixed it

I had the audio cable reversed on the mainboard. All works well now.

rmartine, I could not configure xmms to work. I have a cheap off brand cdrom. That is probably the plroblem with that.

Thanks for your help.
