Kodak EasyShare C330
I've got a Kodak EasyShare C330 camera(no dock) trying to get pictures off of it via the USB cable. It detects it as a "USB PTP Class Camera", which technically should work, since I belive PTP is the protocol the camera uses, but the problem is that it can't see any pictures on the camera. I've tried on gtkam, Digikam, gPhoto2(the command line interface), the GIMP, and Camera.app, and got the samething(not surprising since they all use libgphoto2). Has anyone had a similar experiance and got it too work?
This would all be a non-issue if Ubuntu could use the Texas Intruments card reader on my Gateway laptop, but I'm afraid the drivers for that are even farther behind those of the camera.

Can you simply the mount the camera as a USB mass storage device and browse the photos through your filemanager? Search on these forums for exact instructions, but this will at least it get it going. Most cameras don't need specific drivers to get them working, and most image apps like digikam let you add a USB mass storage device which works in pretty much the same way, allowing you to browse, download, edit, delete, etc. photos.

No, this particular camera doesn't work as USB mass storage.

A bit of an update. It looks like I can pull pictures from the internal memory, but not the memory card. Obviously, that's not much of a fix since the internal memory is limited to 16 MB.

How were you able to access the internal memory? I have an EasyShare C315, and I haven't had any success yet accessing it on Linux. I would like to just be able to mount it like fouldsy suggested, but dmesg only shows
usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
rather than a device like sda or something I know how to mount. The C315 also doesn't show up in digiKam or any of the other gphoto2 apps; I imagine it's not much different than your C330.

Can you set the camera to something like "normal" or "disk drive?" I know it may sound dumb, but sometimes the obvious is overlooked. I have a cheapie HP Photosmart which is a PTP class camera and it did show up in gPhoto2, but I couldn't get it to work until I changed the camera settings to "disk drive" and I was able to mount it as a storage device with no problem.
Are you also sure you have scsi support? If mounted as a mass storgage device, it'll "fake out" as a scsi device.
I know this thread is kinda old, but if you're still having problems, pls. pm me or email.

I have a kodak CX7330 and I fixed the problem by just using a usb sd card reader, works like a charm and is only a 6 bucks or so!

I've had a success story with a C330.
Software wise I'm running FC3 and digiKam.
I added the users who need camera access to the usb group, and, and this is the tricky bit, I have discovered that I can only download images from the camera if there is at least one image stored in the internal memory - but if I meet this requirement I then have full access to images stored on the (128M) SD card.
If there's no image file in internal memory, then communication to the camera appears to be ok, but I don't get any thumnails of any images on the SD card.
I suppose there's some good reason for this, but I'm quite happy to just leave a picture of the cat in internal memory.

Try and grab any of the videos as well.....won't work.
It has something to do with the driver it "has" to use. It's not the usual USB driver, it's a "mass storage usb" device - or something like that. Not the same drivers as 90% of the other cameras.
If anything, when looking to buy a camera, i would check and see what driver the camera uses first. I didn't and i ended up with this camera. I took it back and got a different kodak (one up i think) and it uses the "other" driver so i can access all the information on the camera.
