Knoppix works, Mandrake doesn't - NV TNT2 PRO DVI

I have been messing with this NVidia TNT2 Pro DVI AGP card on and off for a month. I have tried getting help on NV's forums without success. I have also attempted to use NV's drivers many times in many configurations without success.

My question:
Knoppix is able to get to run level 5 with no significant issues. I really want Mandrake 9.2 installed on this PC (I have tried RH, Su, & Deb already without success). Is there any way to figure out how Knoppix is utilizing the video card and copy those settings to Mdk?

I really don't care what resolution (800x600 or above) or bit depth, I just want a working graphical interface for very basic web browsing. Knoppix works excellent when run as XFBdev, 1280x1024 I believe is default resolution. No graphic card modules show in lsmod. In Mdk I have tried mounds of combinations of nv, nvidia (recommended), fbdev, svga, vga16, and vesa drivers for this card using XFree 3 and 4.

Any ideas would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Knoppix may be using the generic vesa driver.

Unlikely. Mandrake tries using the vesa driver as well if it does not recognize the card. With the original install config, the monitor goes immediately into low power mode once run level 5 is entered.

Whatever Knoppix is doing, it is doing right. I just wish I knew what it was doing

Can you boot into Knoppix and read the /etc/X11/XF86Config?
Do a dmesg as well.
