I have put together a kickstart loadset on RH8, but am having problems with the minikernel pausing and asking for the network driver type before it bootstraps to the ks.cfg. After the correct NIC is selected, the kickstart process proceeds just fine.
Has anyone experienced this problem, or do you have any insight for me?
Details of what I have done:
RedHat 8
Intel Pro1000 Gigabit (e1000.o module)
Dell Precision 650 w/s
Type:Kickstart w/mini nfs client bootstrap to ks.cfg, and ftp install image load.
--copied down net driver image file from RH disk1
--exploded initrd, exploded and un-cpio'ed modules.cgz
--extracted e1000.o to a temp area.
--exploded and unarchived my kickstart disk image in a similar manner
--inserted my module file, e1000.o.
--modified modules-info to register the driver
--put the vendor and board sense codes in pcitable.
After this, I reassembled the image in the reverse order from above, and dd'ed it out to floppy.
Like I said above, the load is proceeding correctly, it just has an undesired pause. hmmm
Thanks in advance for any help! --Jon
