Keyboard stops working

I'm running PCLinuxOS 2007 on an Acer Aspire 5003 laptop (AMD 64 bit, 1.5Gb RAM, 100GB HDD). I've added a USB keyboard and this works 100% for the first 5 minutes then input isn't possible. I run a USB mouse and that continues to work after the keyboard stops. When the USB keyboard stops working I can still use the Acer integrated keyboard. If I unplug the USB keyboard and reattach it works again for another 5 minutes.

As I'm dual booting XP and Linux I can report that I don't have the same problem when running XP.

Any ideas what's stopping the USB Keyboard when running PCLinuxOS?

I don,t use you,re distro but what I do now is that there is maximum
you can connect to a usb without its own power supply any how that is what
computer supplier told me

I use one keyboard one mouse both wireless on one usb port combine reciever
and transmitter

The others usb devices has there own power supply devices

good luck

I agree. I found later if I connected the keyboard and mouse through an unpowered hub the problem didn't occur. However using a powered hub for the keyboard caused the problem. So I have a similar configuration to you. Unpowered for keyboard and mouse and a powered hub for the rest.
