keyboard not working in suse installation on ibook g4
 

i've got a weird problem with keyboard. i'm doing an ftp install of Suse 7.3 (the only release i was able to find on ftps) on ibook g4 using the standard integrated keyboard with nothing but ac adapter and twisted-pair cable connected. everything goes fine until the setup finishes downloading the ramdisk data. then a window shows up asking whether i want to 'install linux from scratch', update the system, install expert or abort install. at this time the keyboard starts behaving very strange. the cursor keys are not working at all nor are the F or enter keys. using a try-and-see method i found out, that some keys may do the work (like '8' for enter, ctrl+RArrow for escape, D for F1 and so on...) but they may differ from screen to screen.
does anyone have any idea on what to do? maybe some kernel parameters or something......
