Keyboard/mouse dropout with KVM switch

I guess this should probably be posted to the newbie threads, but I am having some problems with the hardware also.

I've inherited several boxes and am trying to set all up through SpeedStream router and and 4 port ps2 KVM switch(manhattan).

I started simply by setting up two machines that I knew worked.
1- Mandrake 9.0, dual MP1500, 1.5Gbmem 2*80Gb
2- RedHat7.0 P450 256Mbmem, 10Gb

Problem: When I switch from one machine to the other I lose keyboard functionality of the keyboard and mouse on the Mandrake machine machine, but not on the older RedHat box?!?!

I've tried to use different ports on the switch, checked cables and swapped with known good cables.

Anyone else have similar problems with Mandy and KVM or know of a fix?

Thanks

This has happened randomly with me on ML9, when working with machines connected to a KVM. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it though, sorry. Just wanted to let you know that you are not the only person that has had this problem.

Angry Arghhhhhhhh!!!

Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one out there with this problem...

I do like Mandrake and have grown quite used to the distribution for my high end machines, but maybe RedHat 9(or some other distro) is in my future.

Maybe I'll try to install an older version of Mandrake on one of my boxes that is currently used as a doorstop and see if that version is affected as well.

Thanks again.

Similar problem with Red Hat 8 on IBM xSeries 205

I am running 9 Red Hat 8.0 servers on IBM xSeries 205 (e)servers.
I have one box that loses keyboard and mouse functionality only when on the KVM switch (not when directtly attached to a monitor and mouse and keyboard), only after logging out of a user, but not limited to the same port on the 8 port KVM switch.
Other boxes on the same ports have not experienced the problem when I swapped boxes.

Base on the above trials, I am not certain if I have a bad KVM switch, bad server hardware, or just a software problem.

I assume that if I have a bad KVM switch or bad server hardware the results that I observed would have occured in other instances.

Any ideas for a fix?
