keyboard issues

I am having keyboard issues. My tab key has stopped working. I am using ubuntu. Does anyone know if there is a way to assign one of the unused keys (like windows logo one) as tab key?
Would also be interested to know how people generally solve the problem of a key not working. I tried cleaning under the key but hasnt helped.
