Keyboard Input lost on startx, icon text unreadable

Hi,

I have a Slackware install with an NVidia graphics card.

It was working ok, but now the graphics screen is unreadable and the keyboard stops working (capslock and numlock lights don't operate) when the graphics display is started.

Deleting /etc/X11/xorg.conf allows me to run "startx" and see the icons, but keyboard input is still lost.

removed because it isn't really relevant. If anyone feels it would help, I shall repost it (or a later incarnation)

Ok, so everybody is as confused as I am.

I have removed the Nvidia drivers and the desktop appears as normal.

However, the keyboard does not provide input.

The keyboard works fine in the console and I can type startx to start the X Window display.

But once the display is up the keyboard does not provide input; the Numlock and Capslock lights do not come on.

However, there IS something from the keyboard, because pressing the control key halts the screensaver.

/etc/X11/xorg.conf contains this:

Quote:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "kbd"
EndSection
Anybody got any ideas?
