Keyboard doesnt work after install...
Just finished installing Suse 10.0 and the keyboard worked fine throughout install, but once it booted up it stopped working. To make matters more complicated, the keyboard works fine in grub and in the cosole. Its only in the login and in X that it doesnt work at all. On startup it detects the right keyboard and no issues happen when it starts up the driver.
So how do i fix this? |
what kind of keyboard is it? how is it connected to the motherboard? check the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file under the keyboard input section and copy/paste it here if you could
|
Its a logitech wireless keyboard thats hooked up through the PS/2 port. I believe there is a driver for this already, and kernel loads this driver for it.
Its kinda hard to copy a paste something when you dont have a keyboard. |
i have a logitech wireless keyboard as well, usb though.

Its both usb and ps/2... but i have it hooked in via the ps/2 port.
|
k ps/2.i have the same thing
what about my other question? |
Okay this is what i have... like i said i had some trouble cause i have no keyboard to copy and paste anything...
Section "InputDevice" Driver "kbd" Identifer "Keyboard[0]" Option "protocol" "Standard" Option "XkbLayout" "us" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "rfbkeyb" Identifier "Keyboard[2]" Option "InputFashion" "VNC" EndSection Thats all the stuff on the keyboard... |
Also, why i've got a thread up... i cannot play any mp3's or any divx videos. I cant install anything while i dont have a keyboard, but i'm curious as to why i dont have these plugins already installed as i installed every source package from the 5 CD's of Suse 10.0
So far i'm not that impressed with Open Suse. |
wireless keyboards
I have a wireless keyboard and wireless trackball on my main PC
and a wireless trackball that I use with my notebook. All of these work fine in Suse 10. Obviously yours don't at present. You may have to buy a cheap PS2 wired keyboard and mouse so that you can post here and we can help to solve your problem. If you were installing windows XP from scratch then you could run into the same problems. Have you tried resetting the wireless receiver and the keyboard? |
Yes i've tried resetting the keyboard/mouse. I dual boot windows on this machine and the keyboard works fine in windows, and also the console, and in grub. Just doesnt work in X.
Any ideas? P.S. For those that were wondering, yes i checked to see if it was properly plugged into the back of my machine. |
any help here guys?
