Keyboard: debouncing time too short.

Hi: I have just bought a laptop. I find that pressing a key (keyboard) has, one out of ten times, the effect of echoing it two or more times. It all happens as if the debouncing time were too short. Assuming the cause has to do with the debouncing time (or delay or whichever name it has), is this parameter modifiable by software?

I have never fiddled with this, but apparently you can adjust this through the command "kbdrate". See e.g. this stackoverflow post.

You also might want to check accessibility settings in your desktop environment as this arch forum discussion suggests.

Thanksj a lot for those useful references. I'm not quite sure if I am not doing this: maybe the time I hold the key down is too long and, then, the key press repeat (autorepeat) comes into action. To see if this is the case I'll first set the key press repeat delay to a high value. Then if the problem persists I'll know it's about chattering/bouncing.
