Key won't work on keyboard

I have 2 keyboards that I purchased off the auction site. Both identical keyboards made by HP (HP p/n BD91500755).

The "Delete" key won't work on either keyboard - neither the Delete key below "insert" key and left to "End" key nor the "Del" key on the keypard below #"3" key or to the right of the "0" key.

I find it odd that these same 2 delete keys won't work on either keyboard. What could explain this?

Are they new keyboard, or used ones?
How did you try them? (probably you can check xev and/or console mode). Did you try them on another OS (another linux, windows, whatever). Did you try them on another host?

They are both used keyboards. I just really liked this particular one.
The first one I ordered, the 0 key didn't work because the key itself was damaged underneath, so I ordered another one.
Received the 2nd one today and did a test on all the keys in LibreOffice writer. After seeing the 2 deleted keys didn't work, I plugged the first one up and neither worked on it either. I just find it odd that this occurs on 2 keyboards (?)

Update:

I went into preferences, selected keyboard, clicked text entry, and clicked the little keyboard icon that allows one to test each key when pressed.
The two delete keys work when pressed here & tested.

So, why won't either delete key delete text in LibreOffice Writer or even when deleting characters of a URL in a browser.

(?)

Addendum & update:
The delete keys only work if the I use the mouse and place the cursor in the middle of text and press either delete key - the delete keys won't work if the cursor is placed at the very end of any text and then pressed. I guess this is just how it's suppose to work...

Del deletes the character in front of the cursor. Backspace deletes the previous character. This is normal functionality.
