Kernel support for AMDGPU + RX 580 (Polaris)

Not sure if this is properly a 'hardware' or 'software' question, but I'm trying to figure out which kernel revision added support for AMDGPU with Radeon RX 580 (aka Polaris) and/or the rest of the V. Islands GPUs. Basically 'how old can it go' or 'how new does it need to be' (depending on how you look at things).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_...ersion_history says first subsequent kernel release was 4.11, also April 2017.

Thus, logically, support should have been complete in either 4.11 or 4.12, and first LTS release 4.14.
