Question Kernel SMP


hi
I hv a system with dual P-111 1000MNZ CPU's & 512MB RAM

I want to install linux on it
i downloaded redhat linux 9 from the redhat website
then i installed linux on it

Everthing went well

When i start the linux the Grub boot loader giver the option like this

linux kernel 2.20-19
linux kernel 2.20-19 smp

when i run linux using the single CPU options it runs well

BUt when i run linux using the SMP mode it detects the CPU configuration , the memory and hangs after that

i installed another kernel but no afftect
it just gets hanged when use the smp mode

please giude

Try booting with the SMP kernel, but add noapic to the boot options in grub.conf for the smp kernel.

thnx very much for ur help

i am now able to boot the kernel with dual CPU

how can i now monitor my both cpu ?

beside using cat /proc/cpuinfo

plz guide

if you have a recent version of 'top' you can enable the display of per-use stats of the cpus. Run the 'top' application and then press 'h' for help for a brief description of the display options.
