I am trying to configure kernel-2.4.21 for my system. The bzImage has been built sucessfully. But when i am trying to boot it,i am getting the message
as:
"Kernel panics: VFS :Unable to mount root Ffs on 03:00".The setting in grub.conf is as given below:
after doing mount command i am getting following information:
/dev/hda3 on / type ext3 (rw)
none on /proc type proc (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
/dev/hda5 on /DATA1 type ext3 (rw)
/dev/hda2 on /boot type ext3 (rw)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
/dev/hda6 on /swap type ext3 (rw)
It is saying that it does not have EXT3 or EXT2 compiled as built-in or the require modules for this filesystem is not loaded. Though, if the drive is on a different controller, you will have to make sure initrd file is loading them.
