Kernel panic with ath9k drivers ieee80211_agg_splice_packets

This is my first post in Linux Questions apart from the introductory post. Although I am into Linux, I don't do programming.

I do not know if this is the right section on the forum because it falls under both hardware and programming.

Over the past month, I have installed a SparkLAN WMIA-268N wireless card in my Linux server to use as a wireless N access point. Product details are at http://www.sparklan.com/product_details.php?prod_id=174

The card which I use in my laptop computer is an Intel 4965AGN which is also wireless N so that I can connect at the top 300mbps in 5GHz mode.

The major problem that I am getting is that I am very frequently getting kernel panics with ieee80211_agg_splice_packets The problem does not occur when I revert to 54mbps.

I have contacted http://wireless.kernel.org to report the bug. I followed what was said on the site which was to e-mail the bug on the mailing lists.

All the posts concerned are at http://marc.info/?t=124863015500005&r=1&w=2 with one of my posts being deleted by the moderator.

I am now asking here because I feel that I have had little to no help from them. Not all posts have been answered, etc. and I feel that I am left on my own and really getting frustrated.

I thought that the mailing list was meant to be for reporting bugs but instead, I feel that I have been thrown in the deep end to do all the debugging myself and as I said above, I am rubbish at C programming.

I would really appreciate if you could offer me any helpful suggestions to guide me in the right direction and get the extremely annoying bug fixed.

Again, although I am into Linux, I don't do programming.

Can anyone please help me? I am really stuck and I don't want my second Linux nightmare in less than a month.

Hi,

Welcome to LQ!

Your post would have bubbled up, so bumping is not necessary.

You need to provide more information so we can aid you. Which distribution(s) and version? Any error messages, system hardware information and kernel? As for the report drop, this is probably not a problem they felt should be addressed at that level. :)

Take a look at the next two links;

Thank you very much.

I am not too sure what you mean by that but however, I get really impatient and stressed out with little things that "go wrong" and want things right ASAP and I do not mean to do things that seem unacceptable to others. I also don't understand informal expressions very well.

The above information has been given in the link which I have provided in the first post so that is why I haven't provided it here.

I will come back to this thread because I have had replies elsewhere so I am off to try those first.

Hi,

If you want response(s) to the problems you are experiencing then you had better provide the information. Not everyone wishes to search through something in order to assist. It would be proper to provide the information within your post. Unless of course it's screen shots or the like then you should say so. If you have long data or list then provide them within the vbcode tags # or quote which you will find at the top of your reply window.

As I stated before you should aid in resolving your issues. Off linking or pointing to something and stating it is similar then provide the information that you are experiencing or receiving from your system.

HTH!

I have opened a new Bugzilla bug at:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13922

I am signing off for now so I will have a chance to have a look at all replies properly when I get more time.
