Kernel Panic on Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Dual Core Processor

I am trying to install RHEL4U4 64bit. It was successfully installed. Unfortunately after boot kernel panic on
2.6.9-42EL.smp images.
I tried to boot from 2.6.9-42EL, it worked!!!

I am using Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Dual Core Processor.
Does that CPU compatible with RHEL4U4 64bit??
Do I have any alternative to fix this beside changing CPU?

Thanx

This has nothing to do with your CPU - plenty of people are succesfully running Linux on Core 2 Duos. I think the motherboard is the prime suspect.
