Kernel Panic

Hi All,

I'm trying to load RedHat 9.0 on a old cyrix 166 cpu. After the install has finished and the machine reboots, it comes up while loading the kernel with the error.

Kernel Panic: Kernel Compiled for PPro+, requires PGE feature.

Is there any thing i can do to fix this?
thanks

im guessing your kernel is compiled for the wrong processor entirely...hmm...not much to do if you cant even start linux to recompile.

im stumped otherwise

If i was to reinstall redhat again, how would i go about specifying the cpu type??

i had a look and couldn't find anyway to change it...

thanks

not sure either. i KNOW that there are options in the kernel for cyrix processors, i've seen them when i was recompiling a little while ago.

try to reinstall, it might have been a rare goof or something. lets just wait for a vet to stop by this thread and give us a good answer ;)
