hi dears

i am using a P4 system with 80GB Sata HDD.It was working very fine till last night but now whenever i tries to boot, it gives Kernel Panic error and says root filesystem can not be mounted.so what could be the reason behind that, and how it can be resolved,.

i am using RedHat 9.0

Thanks in Advance,.

RH9 doesn't support sata - it's too old. Try downloading Fedora Core 5. It has full sata support and should work fine. Unfortunately, 2.4 kernels and sata are sketchy.
