Kernel 4 vs 5
The latest Debian (11) has upgrades to kernel 5.
I've tried 5.10 and 5.8 and found I had to revert back to the 4.19 kernel image due to crashes and better functionality for my home built pc from 2008.
Are there security concerns about continuing with kernel 4 or other things I should be aware of.
Thanks

Why were you trying newer kernels?
Debian 10 is a currently supported distribution, so its 4.19 kernel still receives security patches.

I installed the 5.10 image etc and booted into that kernel.

Okay thank you...all is well then. I'll head over to the Debian forums to find out where to get these patches.

Those patches are automatically updated in debian repos, so apt update && apt upgrade will install them. There is no need to manually handle those patches.

They're integrated into the updated kernels.
