I'm just entering this in for the sake of documentation
I just switched from a 2.4 to a 2.6 kernel (much nicer I might add) everything was working well other than not being able to print
Code:
$ sudo /sbin/modprobe -v usblp
$ /sbin/lsmod
> usblp 10816 0
$ ls /dev/usb
(nothing)
$ dmesg | grep usblp
> drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: v0.13: USB Printer Device Class driver
to make an hour of trying to figure it out short... I didn't have the usb hud module loaded
Code:
$ sudo /sbin/modprobe -v uhci-hcd
(ehci-hcd for usb2.0, ohci-hcd for some less common usb1.0/1.1)
$ /sbin/lsmod
> uhci_hcd 28944 0
> usblp 10816 0
$ ls /dev/usb
> lp0
$ dmesg | grep usblp
> drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: v0.13: USB Printer Device Class driver
> drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 5 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x1604
(that's an HP DeskJet 940c)
