kernel 2.6.26fc+ ISOFS: Unable to identify CD-ROM format"
HI All,
Recently I compiled a linux fedora kernel (2.6.27fc_x86_64bit) for sata support. After successful compilation and installation with new kernel, :- --System is not able to mount cdrom. --Always generate error, "medium not found" --dmesg have an entry some thing like " ISOFS: Unable to identify CD-ROM format" I don't know what went wrong, but i cross checked my new kernel config and my new kernel have following support:- (in respect of cdrom) --SCSI device drive support[*] --iso9660 file system support[*] --ata-ide device support[*] Also --Sure of media (able to mount on different linux box) --Can mount ISO image (i.e mount -t iso9660 image dir), So ther is no problem with FS spport --Logs show kernel is able to mount Device "scsi 0:0:0:0: CD-ROM TSSTcorp CDRW/DVD TSL462D DE01 PQ: 0" So can't be problem with kernel modules Now what comes in middel to all this ?? Plz help !! Always post what distro and version you are running. It at least gives us somewhere to start.

Hi
OS-Details: Centos5.2 with kernel 2.6.26, x86_64 Bit. |
Have you tried the regular Centos 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 kernel. RHEL/Centos kernel #s are deceptive in that they back patch the kernels to the equivalent of much more current kernels.

HI
I have no issue with any other kernel version except, this one. Btw, I am able to mount it by changing some kernel boot parameter. (i.e at boot parameter , added all-generic-ide). Now is it possible to inform kernel to detect any device in ide mode regardless of all. (i.e, i am looking for some thing like /dev/sda = genric-ide ) --Alok |
