Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question Kernel 2.4.20-8 & RH9 & PCTEL an horror tale!

So it seems that something extremely weird is happening.

I made my move from mdk8 to rh9 and i got Xfree864.3.0 which allows me to use my radeon 7500 fine. But i got a winmodem and distros doesnt like to include drivers for such devices.

So i had previous experiences (bloody ones) installing pctel on a mdk8 machine. It worked fine. So i thought that i was done!, but no, i got to mae the swith to rh9!, and i tought that it was going to be cheescake.

But when i was installing the driver (i've had already knocked out the modversions problem, even i got the fixscript ready if unresolved symbols dare to appear! ) on the make section i got compiler errors!!!!!!.

This one was new, and it seems like there was a really error on the drivers code, no the machine configuration, cause i checked the kernel source code and the drivers code happen to be WRONG!.

Ive been a little research and all threads with my same problem got gcc > 3.x and kernel 2.4.20-x.

The solution will come from one of these two actions.

I got to modify the driver code in order to mathc my kernel sources or......

COULD ANY BODY WITH THE PTSERIAL.O & PCTEL.O FILES ALREADY COMPILED ON A 2.4.20-8 KERNEL MAIL ME THESE FILES. IT WOULD BE A LOT (AND I MEAN IT) OF HELP
