KDE does not start after replacing an FX5200 graphics card with an 6600GT

I have a Mandrake 10.1 installation (NVIDIA drivers installed). After replacing my FX5200 with an 6600GT KDE just refuses to start. I have successfully backed up my data but I want to avoid having to re-install and reconfigure the entire system.

Any suggestions?

how does it refuse to start? is it a KDE issue or X-windows issue? is there any relevant information in the X log at /var/log/Xorg.0.log ?
