Question Kayak XU Sound Problem (ad1816 OSS Module)

Hello,

I managed to install Suse Linux 10.0 on an HP Kayak XU series 03xx. The only problem that I had was getting the sound to work properly. The sound card uses an integrated ad1816 sound card that is configured via pnpbios. After two weeks, several reinstalls, recompiling the kernel, and tweaking the modprobe.conf file, I got sound coming out for system sounds under KDE and I can adjust sound settings using Kmix. I can reboot the computer and have the ad1816 module loaded automatically and my volume settings saved. The problem I'm having now is getting sound to work for other applications such as amarok or kaffeine. Also, alsamixer doesn't work. Would this have something to do with it?
