k3b errors

at startup i get:
Code:

cdrdao 1.1.7 does not support ATAPI
The configured version of cdrdao does not support writing to ATAPI devices without SCSI emulation and there is at least one writer in your system not configured to use SCSI emulation.
Solution: The best and recommended solution is to enable ide-scsi (SCSI emulation) for all writer devices. This way you won't have any problems. Or you install (or select as the default) a more recent version of cdrdao.

No support for ATAPI with cdrdao
You will not be able to use all your reading devices as copy sources since there is at least one not configured to use SCSI emulation and your system does not support ATAPI with cdrdao.
Solution: The best and recommended solution is to enable ide-scsi (SCSI emulation) for all devices. This way you won't have any problems.

(2 separate error messages)

what do i do to emulate scsi on the ide drive?

got a sony CRX210A1 48x12x48 drive i would like to use.
it is hdc, on its own cable, and pins set to cable select on back of unit.
kernel is 2.6.4
distro is onebase 2004-r2 updated trough 6-1-04.

hope this si all the info

pass the option

hdx=ide-scsi

to the kernel on boot. where

hdx

is your device. here are a few guides that may help. the last link gives you both the lilo and grub options for pasing kernel options. hope that makes sense.

well, i added the line to grub.lst.
and rebooted.
got to ogin as root, open a trminal, and did the 'modprobe...'
got this
Code:

FATAL: Module ide_scsi not found.
why is shows an underscore, i dont know. i made sure to type it right, with just a dash.
i decided to try to run k3b anyways.
didnt get any errors on startup, so i decided tio test burn a music cd. got no errors during or after burn, although the "buffer status" was at 3% for almost the whole burn.
after it finished, i popped into my cd player.

first track skips 3 tiumes tehn quits altogether.
skip to 2nd track and it plays fine.
so dio all the others - # 13

does this always happen? did the burn nedd to "warm up" before i got write?
or does that error mean i didnt do something right?

ps- anything otehr than k3b to use (that is good, maybe with gui)?

i mean which would you suggest.

and come to think of it, the cdr i used did have a little data already on it, maybe that messed up the first track.

Peacedog 07-20-2004 04:53 PM

i use xcdroast, it's a little more complicated than k3b, but, i like it.
good luck.
