Jerky PS2 mouse on Ubuntu Edgy

Hi

I have trouble with my cheap Labtec PS2 mouse on Ubuntu Edgy. It is quite jerky since I modified the boot parameters for the kernel. I know it is not hardware related, as it worked nice before and actually a USB mouse works just fine.

The parameter I modified was adding:
acpi=force lapic
to the menu.lst file. Now the machine shuts down properly, but the mouse is horribly slow. I used it with default parameters. Any ideas?

Thanks
