ISCSI Disks
Hi all!
I try to install Linux (Ubuntu) on an HP Pavillion, everything goes ok until it's time to partition the harddisks then i must give the address to the disk and a password?? there is iscsi disks, anyone who knows how to solve that?
Where to find the address and password?
Lars.

Unless you are using a SAN, then you should be using iscsi.
If the installer is not seeing the locally installed drive, then you need check you bios settings to make sure the drive is seen.
If you are using a SAN, then talk to your SAN admin to get a target disk made.

I also don't get the issue of a pavilion not having a local hard drive.
The ISCSI LUN is usually a big business or networked drive. I'd not think a lower home owner pavilion would use it. Do you have a NAS in your home that you want to use????

I get the feeling you may have selected something other than local hard drive as destination or your hard drive is not being seen by the installer. Some laptops have an encryption module that makes it difficult to use linux.

Thanks for answer!
Yes i selected local hard drive as destination in the f9 menu (and the others in that menu also) but the installation program could not see the hard drive in anyone of them?
So probably there is some encryption there.
Thanks anyway
Lars.

Maybe not encryption or anything similar.
I assume this laptop has (or had) windows installed as well. Dell has recently started delivering laptops that have the drives configured as raid in the bios and that often means that linux cannot access the drive at all since it is a windows raid software.
With fedora the fix has been to enter the bios, switch the drive config from raid to ahci, then repair the windows boot so windows will boot with the changed drive config. Only after that is done can the system have linux installed in dual boot (or even taking over the whole disk)
