Is this a power supply failer PSU

Hi guys I was on my PC one day (running simply mepis) and my computer freezed, my first thought was my wireless mouse as some times it can do that, so I shut it down and started agin it froze a few times
but also restarted a few times as well throughout out several days. I also ran memtest on this on several ocasons (I run this every time I do some thing to my PC) memtest gave me errors with the ram but the second time it gave me a different error and to me did not look that serous. before this freezing and shut downs it has not gave any errors. on the net it says that this can happen if a faulty powrsupply is present. now the pc does not come on, it does but I dont see any BISO screen of any thing like that no white Text at all. I do hear fans moving and blowing air. I have now removed the powersupply using antistatic precoursons as always. what do I do buy a new power supply?. or could it be some thing alce

350 w PSU
3.1G sempron
521 MB ram + 128 MB
ASUS mother board MX-KS8 (I think)
DVD - + dulelayer burner
old hard dist 40GB 5700 rmp IDE
all built by me

hope you guys can help me

Let me get this straight: your computer had freezes before and now it does make noise when booting, but doesn't show anything on the screen?
that's a bummer

Well the way to find the cause of these problems is by using the proces of elimination.
So, if you have two cards of memory, take one out and try booting the computer again. If that fails, swap the memory card for the other one and try again.
You should do this with every part you have a spare part of.

Also, check the manual of your mother board for how it indicates problems. Some boards have LED's that signal certain problems, other boards give an audiotory message over your sound system, and other boards just give a simple beep.

If you get no visual (so you see nothing appearing on the screen), one thing to check is the videocard. Put it in a different slot if possible and/or exchange if with an other videocard.

Also normally the BIOS will give a single beep when it has succesfully run the Power On Self Test, so check if you hear that. The P.O.S.T. also flickers the three keyboard LED's on for a second.

Disconnect as many as possible devices from your power supply. This way you know you won't possibly overload it and it could be that some device has a short circuit.
Just start with only the Motherboard, power supply, and video card and work your way up from there.

Another simple thing that might help is to get a vacuum cleaner and vacuum everything in- and on your computer. Be sure to hold the fan blades of your fans in place though, you would not want to break them by letting the vacuum overspin them.

Hi there, I have put my PSU back into my PC and only powered up my motherboard with that big connector and the 4 pin, this time no hard disks or any thing like that, just a TV card DVB and no extra fans. I also know that my system speaker is in as it use to bleep, my PC does not bleep at all and does not Post to that black and white text screen, I have onboard graphics built in the to mother board, and i dont have any spare graphics card at all and I dont know any one which has one, I tested my monitor on another PC which is in my lounge and it works. my PC seens to giving me a black screen I hear fans and hear no bleep. I also checked the system speaker and it was conneted and looked fine.
