Hi

can you post the output for the line for your cam for

Code:
lsusb
It is likely the product id is 0c45 AKA Microdia
http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids

If its an UVC compliant cam then you should be able to use guvcview. YMMV
there are about 5 devices named here
http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/#devices

64ab not found at my 2 links sorry.

speaking of title....your title still shows277.....but google gives me a hit for 227.

OK can you afford to buy an usb lead webcam if you wish to stay with Linux?

If you do not want to use guvcview (UVC compliant web cams)

there is also this list

http://ovcam.org/ov511/cameras.html

If interested....I own a logitech and its UVC compliant and you will see a bunch of them at this link
http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/#devices

Notice that logitech do not appear to be listed for OVcam compliant cams (found one only)
while.....omivision can appear on both lists

#############

If you can not afford to buy a new webcam.....try reading ubuntu doc on using vlc
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Webcam

However, I notice you are a linux newbie.

this is my attempt to simplify how to use VLC with your webcam plugged in. Assuming it works.

remove all other phones or camera before attempting

open vlc

Click Menu -> click stream

dialog box appears

Now click the TAB for capture as per image
https://imgur.com/x3KMJkB

capture mode.....pulldown and select video camera (= webcam)
........pulldown video device and choose /dev/video0 (its video0 because you have only one camera connected)
.......pulldown audio device and try hw0,0
(If no sound recorded we can change that later)
......Options.......choice one.....stream to a file so
.............pulldown and choose all.(image shows pal but choose all please)....click stream

click next

click next (for next box)......filename....click add ....and in filename box lets call it vlc

(file will stream and save to your home dir so make sure you choose an unique name

in next box....click inside Profile and choose top item (mp4)

click stream.....click stream all miscellaneous

click stream........video will NOT show inside vlc....but look at the pause/play button.....it should show as a pause button
----which tells you that it is recording.

press pause to stop

use filemanager to navigate to filename you chose....eg vlc

use vlc to play it

good luck
