Is there a cheap fingerprint scanner that works under linux (biometrics)

My brother is a windows user. I have tried to convert him but have had no luck. He is very rude about linux. Recently he bought a microsoft fingerprint scanner and goes on about how useful it is and how there is no such product for linux

Is he right. I have looked for a linux compatible fingerprint scanner but cannot find one. If anyone knows of a reasonably cheap one could you please let me know. I would love to see the look on his face.
