Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Is the NCT 6687 Supported?

Is the NCT6687 supported by the Linux kernel or a driver that I may be able to install from the Debian repository?

I'm curious because I just bought a B550 motherboard last week and it uses an NCT6687 Super IO controller.

And if it's not supported, can I just let the motherboard use it's own fan curves? Or will my OS or other software try to take control and screw things up?

Mr. Macintosh,

In the MSI BIOS/UEFI (via Del key) > Advanced > Hardware Monitor > Fans.

I use 140mm and 120mm BeQuiet! Shadow Wings 2 PWM (4 wire fans) as opposed to DC (3 wire) and set my case fans to PWM.

They look after themselves.

There are further tweaks which can be made if required.
