From experience, without wishing to sound "critical", I sadly have to agree with this. The guy has a hide like a rhinoceros; everything just bounces straight off it, and he only hears what he wants to hear...
These are the ones who generally spend more time in the 'Off-topic' sections of most fora than anywhere else.

Not sure; don't think it's stubbornness as much as it might be they just don't understand the answers. The OP keeps claiming they want to 'know' things, but when they're explained, just keeps asking.
OP, AGAIN: - Clean the computer out. Fans, ducts, etc.
- Remove the CPU heat sink and clean old thermal paste off and apply new.
- PAY ATTENTION to the fact you have a sixteen year old machine and try thinking about why running modern browsers might cause CPU load to increase.
- When you realize that the CPU is running harder, think about it then generating more heat.
- Now put it all together: (CPU Greater Load)+(Increased CPU Heat)+(Fan DESIGNED to cool CPU)=FAN WILL RUN FASTER
Want a slower fan? Buy a new computer that won't load as easily running modern software. Options? Use what you have and live with the fact the fan is doing EXACTLY what it was designed to do.
Choose one of those.

Or just an "oversized" fan.

It sort of is the case, but it's likely a result of the low amount of effort put into the original post, which some people may interpret as borderline trolling. Nothing is more irritating than having to pry information out of someone, in order to help them troubleshoot and narrow down the problem. It's the equivalent of walking up to a mechanic and saying "It's broken", and expecting them know exactly what the problem is.

Did you not read the previous posts in this thread? And the spam link you posted in another thread has been reported.

Well. Since this thread was started. I have upgraded my shop computer from antiX 17 to antiX 21.
Saved my home partition so I would not lose anything I wanted to keep.
Copied everything to a new /home. And Yeah. Ran sensors-detect also on this IBM m57 wireless motorcycle shop computer.

Long ago. I even made tutorial for installing inxi in Puppy Linux
http://yatsite.blogspot.com/2010/03/...in-macpup.html
So after I ran sensors-detect
I can now get inxi to read from lmsensors
Code:
harry@shop:~
$ sensors
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +42.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 1: +43.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
harry@shop:~
$ inxi -s
Sensors:
System Temperatures: cpu: 45.0 C mobo: N/A
Fan Speeds (RPM): N/A
harry@shop:~
