How does the Intel push for BTX and PCI Express affect using Linux as the OS. Is PCI Express an Intel patented technology or what. I've surfed a bit and don't quite understand what's going on here.
PCI Express is not patented by Intel. Information about the architecture can be found in this Anandtech article on PCI Express. I am possitive Linux will be supporting this bus once somebody actually starts selling some hardware that uses it. Intels big PCI Express talk as of late has been because they recently got silicon working that implements it.
