Is it worth to buy a MAC PRO (quad cpus)
 

What do you want to do with it?

photo editing, video editing... making office documents! and sometime programming. play some 3d games.

what do you think if anyone will purchase such expensive computer for ?

The reason I asked is because you didn't say. When buying any machine consider things like price and the programs available - are the program you need only available for that platform, can you afford it, would you get a better deal from different but similar hardware, etc etc.

Cannot imagine anything I would want to do on a computer that would justify spending that much money for one.

If based on your need, the answers is definitely a no, why must we kill an ant with a nuke bomb?

We use a lot of Mac computers and if you want to run Final Cut Pro Suite this would be a very good machine to buy. However,if all you want to do is basic video editing you could buy an iMac 24" with Final Cut Express and get great results at 1/2 the price.

It's never worth actually buying a mac. Too expensive for one thing and I wouldn't be caught dead using one anyway. The mac-users I've met usually have their heads screwed on backwards and insists macs are the best thing since sliced bread, for reasons like because of the price and that MacOS is invulnerable. Yeah, right...

A cheapo walmart pc running linux or wahtever would be just as good for everyday work.

What 3d-games are available for mac?? That is to say, recent ones?

The only good thing with macs is that the hardware is well put together, ie each component works well with another, ultimately giving you better performance running windows or linux, than if you'd purchased another "regular" PC. The performance improvments I've seen in tests, I cant vouch for them personally, but most seem to imply macs are generally better performancewise compared to a machine with same components (chipsets etc) but put together by OEM and/or brandmaker like Dell, HP etc.

The pricetag on a mac is absolutely prohibitive though if you're a smart and sane person; there are better ways to get performance if that's what you need...
