Realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
is it compatible with linux

Check the HCL (Hardware Compatiblity List) on this site (ir some other site or do a google search), it ought to tell you better..

I have one of them, works no problems.

Uses the 8139too module

It is compatable.
The driver name is 8139too
