Hi,
I recently got an external sound card, and after i installed it, some strange things started to happen, ubuntu dapper, and xp wouldnt load for me, and after a whole format and re-install and a bios flash i narrowed it down to IRQ problems, i think!.
After i re-installed i got the same problems, xp took about 15 minutes to load and gnome wouldnt load at all, until a "killall -9 esd" command, so then i looked into it and i noticed the onboard sound card (SiS SI7012) has 'IRQ 177' this cant be right can it? If i look into dmesg aswell i get errors about IRQ 177, with sound device errors and it says its ignoring them.
Heres a copy.
Code:
[17179573.688000] ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:02.6[C] -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 177

[17179593.108000] irq 177: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option)

So is there anyway to change the IRQ of this in ubuntu, from the looks of it when the external sound card was found the on board sound card was given a low level IRQ number.
Any ideas?! Im lost at this stage!
Thanks
