iRiver error "could not find any USB busses"

Hey everyone,

I used to copy music to my iRiver ifp-780 mp3 player with mandrake and it worked with no problem. I'm now running on gentoo and I'm getting an error.

I installed ifp-line using emerge, so it installed all dependencies for me. If I type in something like "ifp ls" which should show me what's currently on the MP3 player I get the message "could not find any USB busses"

I'm fairly sure that I'm just missing something and didn't install something that I need. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm running gentoo 2004.3.

for anyone else who runs into this issue, the resolution is you need usbdevfs support in your kernel
